Issues with videos

Some of our videos that we have on our site are not captioned, or may rely on auto-generated captions and may not be completely accurate. Videos do not have an audio description or transcript.

• Some videos do not have captions (WCAG 1.2.2 Captions (Pre-recorded)).
• Some videos use automatically generated captions, which may be inaccurate (WCAG 1.2.2 Captions (Pre-recorded)).
• Some video controls do not have enough contrast (WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 1.4.11 (non-text contrast)). This is an issue with the YouTube video player.

We will be investigating and testing the use of alternative accessible video players e.g. AblePlayer.

We may at times be required to publish some documents provided by external bodies in the format they provide them and therefore cannot make them accessible.

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations .

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was originally prepared on September 10, 2024.

How we tested this website

This website was tested in August 2024. The tests were carried out by accessibility specialists in the City of Wolverhampton Council web team. The team tested the most used customer journeys through the website and a sample of the different types of page. The testing followed the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines and considered the needs of users with sight impairment, physical disabilities, hearing impairment and cognitive disabilities.
