We are pleased to be taking part in the Regional Investment Summit in Birmingham, convened by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves.

The Summit brings together leading institutional investors, pension schemes, and regional leaders to explore how long-term capital can be deployed to accelerate growth across the UK’s nations and regions. Senior Government Ministers, including the Chancellor, the Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP, the Minister for Pensions, Torsten Bell MP, and the Minister for Investment, Jason Stockwood MP, are in attendance, alongside regional mayors and representatives from across the pensions and investment industry. We are also delighted to see Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority, playing a leading role in proceedings as host Mayor.

The event marks the first domestic UK investment gathering of its kind and follows the launch of the Sterling 20 group of pension investors, which will work with Government to identify opportunities to channel capital into UK growth. The Sterling 20 is expected to be expanded next year to include the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).

As a Local Government Pension Scheme asset manager soon to have responsibility for investing around £100 billion on behalf of our Partner Funds, we at LGPS Central are fully committed to working with Government and other stakeholders to help develop a strong pipeline of investible opportunities in central England and across the wider UK.

The LGPS pools represent a significant source of long-term capital that can help deliver sustainable economic development and support prosperity across the UK, and we are proud to play our part in that journey.
